BEFORE...

Recent events have inspired me. I feel as if I should write them down while they are still fresh. This is to all those teenagers out there who like to experiment. Before you try that Pot. Think about future you. What is this one time thing REALLY going to matter? Think about yourself years from now. Its not just pot now its heroin and meth. The most important things in your life. You can't go a day without it. Your children only matter when you come down and you realize what you have done or haven't done. Your kids clothes are dirty they are hungry and there is no food in the house. Your daughter wants you to brush her hair but you can't keep your hands still long enough because they are shaking so bad. You yell out of frustration. All you want is another fix to help make you feel better. You are sick and you know it. But it doesn't curve the appetite. You can't hold down a job because you can't stay sober long enough to make it to work. Next thing you know Police are busting in and taking your children away and you are going jail. So BEFORE you try that joint think about that ONE joint and what its really going to do. Pretty soon that ONE joint is going to turn into two and 3 and on and on. Then the high won't be as good so you will move onto "New" things so you can feel that rush. Think about your future children BEFORE you smoke that joint. Do you really want them to grow up without their mommy or daddy because they are high or in jail? Do you realize the danger you are putting them in bringing strangers around and doing drugs around them? I know most will find this as excessive and that's fine. But remember this is how I grew up. I've lived it and will tell you exactly how it is. Now compared to some my life was minor. Others aren't so lucky and their parents sell them for sex to get their fix. I didn't have to worry about that. But I was the kid who's mom and dad were in jail for drugs. I was the kid who didn't get anything for her birthday because all the money went to drugs. I was the kid whose dad pawned her Clarinet for drugs. Try explaining that to a band teacher. And finally making brownies after Awanas having the FBI bust into your house because they think your parents are harboring a fugitive. Only to have both of your parents taken away again that night and not knowing when you would see them again. So BEFORE you experiment PLEASE take a moment to think about it. Is it really That cool to be high with your friends? Is it really that cool to go to jail?

THE LANGE'S ARE OFFICIAL HOME OWNERS!

THAT'S RIGHT! We bought a house. And we LOVE it. We love our neighborhood and we love our house! Our neighbors are awesome (Can I get an amen?) Funny how you see a house and you just know its the one you are supposed to live in. This one has a library/study that has been deemed (Amber's room) as well as a "Nascar Room" for Eric because it has built in glass shelves all around it to display his Nascar Model cars. Blake is loving having a room just for toys. We finally got a playroom! And let me say its pretty nice. For now I'm working on unpacking and trying to get settled. Its a new adventure and I'm excited to see where it takes us!
Later!

Aloha,
We have had a fun couple of days. Had a playdate with a friend and her kids and Mommy got to go to a luau kid free for the night! Blake had a blast and passed out shortly after I got home. I had lots of fun with my friends and enjoyed the show. I did accidently pick up a fertility God doll statue thing. And then ended up sitting in between 3 pregnant women but hey I have nothing to worry about right LOL. Anyway it was a fun night and here are a few pics.

Whale watching cruise

Amber, Blake, Brandon and Cathy
A good shot of Mama whale and her baby
Another whale shot
Our Boat the Star of Honolulu..

Today a friend of mine Cathy and her son Brandon accompanied Blake and myself on a whale watching cruise. It was a first for all 4 of us. After much excitement we were on our way and were able to see several whales. Along with a cool show of a mama whale and her baby being accompanied by dolphins! We didn't see whales the whole time but got several shots in the 2 hours we were onboard the ship. We had a lot of fun though and it was a neat experience. Blake loved telling his auntie all about the dolphins and whales. We had a great time and it was a great experience. To see more pictures please check out my facebook!

Fish Tank Fiasco 2010

Many of you know me as one who has a hard time controlling stress. I tend to worry about things a lot. Unnecessary things at times or things I have no control over. Eventually I move on and get over it. But not after talking about it for days. So a big thank you to all my friends who listen to me ramble on and on about things that may seem petty to them but are obviously bothering me. For a change I thought I would share a pretty funny story that happened last night. I got the wild hair to clean my fish tank. Mind you I have never really cleaned it before. I have sort of watched Eric do it from afar but never really helped. I would always ask him if he needed help but he always declined said that he could handle it. I have held onto the hose at times but that is about the extent of my fish tank cleaning knowledge. So I did my best to catch all the fish. Just FYI some of them swim pretty fast and they will swim from you. So after finally catching all of them I put them in a bowl with water of course on the counter. Then I got to work. I noticed my filter and all that stuff attached to it needed to be cleaned so I removed it and I removed the water air maker thing in the middle. Sorry I don't know its name. I just know it makes lots of bubbles. Upon expection it was full of algae and so I cleaned everything out and started taking water out of the tank. I was spilling it all over the floor but had towels so as I was spilling I was mopping up too. I scrubbed the sides down as best as I could and decided it was good enough. I couldn't get all the water out because 1. the fish tank is entirely too heavy for me to carry outside and 2. my pitcher could only get so much. I figured a little algae wouldn't hurt them. They have been swimming in it this long. So I did my best putting the fish tank back together. Note to self pay attention how you take things apart. Might make it a little easier to put back together. Just sayin. So I got the water hose. I'm thinking OK. I have no one to hold the hose but if I turn it on low maybe it won't get out of the tank. WRONG. I turned on the hose it flew out of the fish tank and water started squirting EVERYWHERE. I mean it was squirting behind the fish tank, the DVD tower and the TV. I am yelling swear words trying to get to the water hose to keep it from getting to electrical outlets and my TV and stuff. Get to the hose. There is water everywhere. I mean a lot of water. Get the hose in the tank. This whole time I'm telling Blake go get me towels. Of course him being 4 he is like Good Grief Mom. Get a grip. He isn't quite getting it that I need something to clean up the mess. After I feel I can leave the hose for the second it takes to run and get towels I grab all the towels in hall closet. I start the tedious task of mopping up the floor. Our housing has wood laminate floors. Water sitting on them for any amount of time will ruin them. And since Eric and I aren't going to be in this house long I know I need to get the water up. I am pushing furniture out of the way. I had to move the TV stand the fish tank and DVD tower plus coffee table to mop up water. Yeah it was THAT bad! So I get the water mopped up. Or at least I hope I got all of it. I mean I moved everything so I'm thinking if any got away that I didn't know about I will find it today when I move everything again to clean LOL. Anyway after all the water and drama I sat down. I couldn't believe that I had really let that happen. I knew better right? I mean most people know that when you turn a water hose on the pressure is going to make it go haywire. Oh well you live you learn right? This whole thing taught me one thing. Me and fish tanks are not meant to happen. And that's OK. I accept the fact that I'm not good at it. I don't have to be great at everything. After a major time out and a beer I feel better about what happened. I only lost 1 fish and he jumped out of the bowl. I tried to save him but it was too late. So this is the Great Fish Tank Fiasco 2010. I Hope you got a laugh or two. Now looking back I know I am.
Aloha,
Amber
